Tech Tip: There’s an Emotional Side to Every Transaction

How do you know you’re a great technician?

There are certainly qualities that come to mind: effective, efficient, skilled, trained, timely, honest, etc. All of these things are great! You are supposed to be able to fix things and help homeowners.

But have you ever considered your homeowners needs when they call in? First, something’s not working, so there’s pain there. That means there’s also an emotional side. So we have to meet that emotional side as well.

If you just go in to fix the problem, then all you did was a transaction. You missed an opportunity to connect with the homeowner.

So next time you’re out on a call, think about that. Are you just there to fix the problem? Or are you there to take care of the emotional side as well?
