Here at Power Selling Pros, we normally give customer service and sales advice. I’m going to give you a little bit different insight today. And that is how to write a compelling slogan.
Now, I’m not going to go into all the nitty-gritty details of how to write a really, really compelling slogan. Rather, I’m just going to give you one little bit of information that I think will help you create a slogan that’s interesting, that makes customers do a double-take. Wait a sec. I didn’t expect that. That’s not what I was anticipating.
Here’s the tip:
Most companies talk about how long they’ve been in business. They say, “We’ve been in business since 1908. Serving our customers since 1970.” But I saw it put this way by another company, somebody who did it differently. They took the common, which is talking about how long they’ve been in business, and they did something uncommon with it. Instead of saying, “In business since 1908.”
Imagine how good you’d be if you did something every day since 1908.
Read that one more time: “Imagine how good you’d be if you did something every day since 1908.”
That’s a compelling slogan.
That’s something that makes a customer smile. That’s something that makes them do a double-take and say, “I did not see that coming, but I get your point and I want to give you a call.”
Try to do something unique with your slogan. Try to do something that’s a little bit different, that stands out from the crowd. Take what’s common, and do something uncommon with it.
