Most meetings feel like watching paint dry.
Here are some ways to make meetings amazing again.
- Recognize there are three kinds of meetings:
- Training Meetings
- Management Meetings
- Stand-up/All-Hands Meetings
In Management Meetings, start with a problem. Use the Scientific Method: problem, hypothesis, test, assess. Meet as often as it takes to solve a problem. These meetings are where you decide which levers to pull. It HAS to be actionable.
In Training Meetings, reiterate your company values and purpose. Roleplay with your team to improve skills, ask for feedback and set action items.
Every meeting should have next steps, due dates and reporting or results from last time.
